Mike lived in California his entire life. He grew up in Salinas and graduated from North Salinas High School in 1984. Shortly after graduating, he began his career in construction and worked as a Lather for over 25 years. Mike was dedicated to his trade and always took great pride in his work.
He moved to Madera in 2001 and continued working as a Lather in the Central Valley. Mike worked on numerous projects including Chukchansi Park, Fresno Chaffee Zoo, Saint Agnes Hospital, and Matilda Torres High School. Mike also worked on the PrimeCare Medical Building in Salinas. The construction of this project was meaningful to him because his mom attended doctor appointments there. Mike would lovingly joke with his mom that he made the arches just for her.
Mike was very proud of his Portuguese heritage. He loved his mom's home-made Portuguese cooking, especially her sopas and linguisa. He loved spending time with his son and always did his best to teach him about life, sports, and fitness. Mike also enjoyed spending time with his friends, listening to all types of music, and was an avid fisherman. He loved sports and rooted for Portugal whenever he watched soccer. Mike always tried to be a good friend and will be missed.
