Obituary

Anna Lang Neilsen, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Clovis, CA on July 15, 2020. Anna was born October 14, 1929 in Lemoore, CA to Richard and Monica (Zumthurm) Lang. The fourth of eight children, she spent her childhood in Laton, CA in a foster home after the untimely death of her mother in 1937.

Upon graduation from high school, Anna began working as a telephone operator for Pacific Bell in Hanford, CA , later moving to Reno, NV and then Riverdale, CA. It was in Riverdale that she met LeRoy Eugene Neilsen and they were married on April 2, 1955 in Reno, NV. After a brief return to Riverdale, they relocated to San Bruno, CA then to Portland, OR.

In 1963, LeRoy and Anna, along with their three children, returned to California where they settled in Bakersfield for the next 28 years. Anna was a homemaker until LeRoy purchased Castle Printers in 1973, with Anna joining her husband in running the business.

In 1991, they sold Castle Printers and retired to the mountains in Oakhurst, CA where Anna enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and playing with the grandkids.

After the death of LeRoy in 2010, Anna relocated to the Fresno area where she continued to quilt blankets for friends and family, donated children's quilts and pillows to the Marjaree Mason Center for victims of domestic violence, and continued her support of St. Joseph's Indian School.

Anna is survived by her sisters, Mary Davis, Elsie Pielop and Betty Downing; her daughters Camilla Neilsen and Lori Neilsen; son Steven Neilsen; and grandchildren Megan Tisler, Astrid Neilsen and Kevin Neilsen.

No memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anna's memory to St. Joseph's Indian School, P. O. Box 326, Chamberlain, SD 57326.
